The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the government of Ontario, and one of Canada's leading granting foundations, aiming to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario. P2P has received financial support from OTF on projects such as Targeting women: combating HIV/AIDS-related stigma and Bridging the gap: I can talk to my Teen.

The Resource Foundation

The Resource Foundation, founded in 1987, is a non-profit foundation in New York, NY, supporting high impact development projects. The Research Foundation is supporting P2P with our mental health initiative entitled Community Sensitization for a better social inclusion/to fight social isolation, to address this critical issue facing our community.

Capstone Project

Mental Health & Telemedicine in East African Communities

P2P took part in a research project led by The Munk School for Global Affairs , Masters of Global Affairs (MGSs)  Program at the University of Toronto. This project provides an opportunity for MGAs, in their final year of study, to undertake a consulting assignment that addresses a real global problem for a client whose organization is currently seeking in-depth analysis and recommendations.

HIV/AIDS Legal Clinic of Ontario (HALCO)

HALCO is a charitable not-for-profit community-based legal clinic that provides free legal services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Ontario, Canada. HALCO also provides a variety of other services including public legal education, community development and law reform activities. In 2016, P2P collaborated with HALCO to start a project entitled Supporting our Community: Our Health our Laws, in which free legal education about human rights, immigration and criminal law, as it pertains to HIV/AIDS, is provided to faith-based groups in the Ethiopian community in Toronto.

Connecting Communities Advisory Committee

P2P was invited to be a part of Connecting Communities Advisory Committee with a view to share some of the key lessons learned from the “Supporting Our Community” project. P2P shared its experiences during this project, particularly in the area of engaging with faith leaders.

CUSO International

Collaboration

CUSO International invited P2P to various forums such as the Ontario Council for International Cooperation (OCIC)’s, Global Citizens Forum and the CUSO Strategic Outlook for 2017 Forum held in February 2017. As an active diaspora organization, P2P presented its programs at these forums and forged partnerships with community organizations pursuing similar objectives.

Deloitte

As part of a Deloitte impact initiative, members of P2P executive board and staff along with volunteers from Deloitte worked on strategies to increase organizational capabilities and operational efficiency. The first workshop was held on October 13, 2017 and the team engaged in discussions on technology adoption, process improvements, and stakeholder engagement. The impact initiative is ongoing with team members engaged in implementing recommended solutions.

Women’s Health in Women’s Hands

P2P participated in various forms organized by Women’s Health in Women’s Hands (WHIW) and provided input for a new project focusing on HIV testing intervention for the African, Caribbean, & Black communities.

Uzima Women Relief Group International

Advisory Group

P2P took part in a research project led by Uzima Women Relief Group International. The main objective of this research was to investigate health concerns of African women in Toronto with or without lived experiences of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and how their health can be improved through education.

People4kids gala

People4kids, a charitable group led by Lynn Kobayashi and her husband Pat Deutscher has been a stalwart supporter of P2P. Fundraising events organized and led by Lynn and Pat for the benefit of P2P have garnered more than $100k between 2011 and 2016. P2P and the many orphaned children who have immensely benefited from Lynn and Pat’s supreme generosity of spirit remain deeply grateful to them. People4kids has also raised funds for other small charities benefiting compassionate causes.
