People to People AID Organization, Canada (P2P) is a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1999 by concerned individuals from the Toronto Ethiopian community to contribute to the fight against HIV/AIDS and other preventable diseases. P2P pursues the following core objectives — provide care and support for those affected by HIV/AIDS, increase awareness about preventable diseases, and contribute towards addressing determinants of health (physical, social, economic, and cultural) including mental health. In undertaking these objectives, P2P

  • engages in community mobilization and capacity building;
  • undertakes educational activities to foster awareness; and
  • partners and collaborates with governmental and non-governmental organizations that share its objectives.

P2P operates in Canada as well as in Sub-Saharan Africa with particular focus on Ethiopia.

2017 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (STWM)

In Ethiopia, close to 1 million  children lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS and have to deal with this loss every day. New Project

P2P is happy to announce that it has  recently begun a project entitled, “Supporting Our Community: Our Health Our Laws” through funding from the Law Foundation of Ontario. P2P in collaboration with the HIV/AIDS Legal Clinic of Ontario (HALCO),  Women’s Health in Women’s Hands (WHIWH), and Africans in Partnership Against AIDS (APAA) will be providing legal education training in the areas of human rights, immigration, and criminal law as they relate to people living with HIV/AIDS. The training will target faith-based leaders and community workers such as  front-line, settlement, health and youth workers in the African-Canadian Communities of the Greater Toronto Area. We believe that this project  will build on the knowledge of key community intermediaries on HIV/AIDS and the law and forge partnership among community organizations.
